- Ballistics & Blast
-
DefenCell is a containment system for a variety of fill materials, usually selected for their availability or to meet particular protection requirements. The type and quality of the fill material, the amount of compaction and the moisture level will all affect the ballistic performance. In most cases sand or fine aggregate has been used for controlled testing in order to give a consistency of comparable results.
The cellular structure of DefenCell dissipates energy from blasts across the length and depth of the barrier offering superior protection compared to simple mono-cell containment systems and the internal cells of the structure retain a significant proportion of the strength and protective capabilities if only the external cells are damaged.

- Vehicle Barriers
-
An ongoing series of Vehicle Crash tests has been carried out over the last four years in both the US and UK. These tests continue to show that various configurations of DefenCell barriers and Profile provide very effective stopping power and the ability to retain a vehicle thereby preventing a breach and possible secondary attack. The cellular structure very effectively dissipates the vehicle energy along the length of the barrier.

- Flood
-
DefenCell has been successfully tested at the US Army Corps of Engineers, Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) at Vicksburg, Mississippi, USA and as a result has been adopted as resilient and effective temporary or long term barrier for Flood Control and Disaster Management. The test programme covered a range of static and dynamic tests as well as reviewing installation and removal times and the results were entirely positive.
Recent successful 'real life' tests in Smithland, Kentucky and Selkirk, Ontario have verified the laboratory tests and illustrated the practical advantages of the DefenCell Flood Protection system.

- Environmental & Operational
-
The Terram and Typar geotextile fabrics used to make DefenCell have been proven in practical installations around the globe for many years. Developments in the properties of the materials and their integration into the finished products have ensured increased strength and durability.
In addition to the laboratory tests detailed here, DefenCell is constantly undergoing controlled long term testing in both UK and USA as well as practical testing in some of the most inhospitable areas of the world, notably at Camp Bastion in Afghanistan where the Ammunition Supply Point, built entirely from DefenCell, is still in excellent condition nearly five years after installation.
